Is PowerChute Business Edition discontinued? ›

PowerChute Serial Shutdown is available to download. This version of PowerChute replaces PowerChute Business Edition and PowerChute Personal Edition for Windows OS only.

Schneider Electric announced its acquisition of APC on October 30, 2006 and completed it on February 14, 2007. APC shareholders approved the deal on January 16, 2007.

To configure PowerChute Buiness Edition go to Configuration - Shutdown Settings and set At runtime limit to 30 minutes. When the UPS has less than 30 minutes of runtime remaining it will start the shutdown process.

PowerChute will automatically “lock out” for 2 minutes after three unsuccessful login attempts (incorrect username and/or password) to prevent brute force password cracking.

No. You do not need to install PowerChute if you do not want to. The software provides graceful shutdown of Windows desktop OS in the event of a power failure if you are not available to shut the system down yourself.

You can choose to care for your UPS battery however you see fit. But, unplugging it can result in a shorter lifespan. If you unplug your UPS each night, for example, it will self-discharge. When it is plugged in again, the battery will have to charge itself back up to “make up” for that discharge.
